October ARTIST OF THE MONTH

SUSAN RYDE

This month, we celebrate the work of Susan Ryde, an artist born on the island of Puerto Rico and raised in the south of England. Her artistic inspiration began with the vibrant flowers that surrounded her during her childhood in both Puerto Rico and England.

After settling in El Paso more than 40 years ago, she discovered additional inspiration in the beauty of the Franklin Mountains while mountain biking along their trails. She has donated original artwork to benefit fundraising efforts for El Paso Children’s Hospital, Make a Wish Foundation, and Borderless Giving.

Susan will lead a Sip-n-Paint Workshop featuring fall pumpkins in all their glory. Join her on Saturday Oct. 17 from 1-4 pm. All supplies are provided and you’ll go home with your very own autumn art piece. Cost is $45; sign up at the link below.

LAS ARTISTAS JURIED ART SHOW Nov. 14-15

Many Art @ Placita Santa Fe artists have been invited to participate in the Las Artistas juried art show. The annual show is a favorite place to begin your holiday shopping experience, with gift ideas for everyone, including great art and fine crafts.

Join us at the Epic Railyard Events Center at 2201 E. Mills Avenue. In addition to the beautiful art and handmade crafts created by established local artists, you will also find the work of young, vibrant, and talented emerging artists.

Come spend the day Saturday, Nov 14 (11am-5pm) and Sunday, November 15 (11am-4 pm). Food trucks will be on site to provide all the nourishment you’ll need to knock out that gift list. You’ll be sure to find a perfect gift (or three) for yourself, too!
