Susan Ryde

Susan Ryde is an artist born on the island of Puerto Rico and raised in the south of England. Her artistic inspiration began with the vibrant flowers that surrounded her during her childhood in both Puerto Rico and England. After settling in El Paso more than 40 years ago, she discovered additional inspiration in the beauty of the Franklin Mountains while mountain biking along their trails.

Her accomplishments include several solo exhibitions, including Susan Stockwell at Madhatter (1998) and 99 Paintings on the Wall at Casa Jurado. She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Out of Towners, Bohemian Encounter, and Homeless Artists at The Galleria. More recently, she has donated original artwork to benefit fundraising efforts for El Paso Children's Hospital, Make a Wish Foundation and Borderless Giving.

Ryde has sold more than 600 original paintings, along with hundreds of prints. In 2019, she was nominated for Best Fine Artist by El Paso City Magazine. Her painting “All at Once” was selected as the cover artwork for the April 2020 edition of the El Paso Scene monthly guide.

Susan currently exhibits her work at Art@Placita Santa Fe, located at 5024 Doniphan Drive, Suite 6, El Paso, Texas. She finds enjoyment in giving workshops and teaching both adults and children. This year her art was accepted in the Las Artistas juried show, which will be held November 14-15, 2026 at the Epic Railyard Event Center located at 2201 E. Mills Avenue, El Paso, Texas.

“In this complex world, my goal is to bring joy and pleasant thoughts through my art, moving the viewer to feel positive and uplifted through my expression.”
