Pam Schuster

Pam says that she came to be artist by accident.

Pam moved to El Paso in 2008 and enrolled in the UTEP metals program. About the same time a friend, from Ruidoso with a new kiln called, asking if she would like to go there and fuse some glass. "We had so much fun that weekend, I was hooked!"

In 2020, living vicariously through Pam's art, her husband Jeff, saw videos on alcohol inks and bought her some. Painting with inks led her to acrylics and oils. Her husband, would say, she's been "Inspired by Jeff" and honestly, she agrees. "Without his influence, I can't imagine that I would be an artist today."

Pam loves the idea that a piece of art is bought because a collector feels a connection to it. Once purchased, the art begins its own adventure, traveling through time and places with the people who love it.

"There's necessity for a delicate touch with metal, to hammer, saw, pierce, torch and finish a piece of jewelry. With glass, it's the scoring, breaking, color combinations and the fluidity of super-heated silica that creates harmony. Painting is soft and gentle, unlike metal and glass. I find it fascinating that alcohol ink wants to be round as do glass and metal, it's an interesting trait all three have in common."
